Modern Boho Styled Wedding Shoot!

I have never done any styled photo shoot. I do a lot of themed stuff and think it’s important that it relate to the couple and be about THEM and who they are. There are tons of photographers who do styled shoots and it’s become cliche maybe? BUT, I’ve been dreaming of doing something like this and had this vision of this shoot and lots of ideas. And then everything just fell into place so perfectly. I invited my friend and fellow photographer, Cindy to do the shoot with me. I had lots of ideas and she was a sounding board. I also could NOT have done it without her the day of.

I wanted this to reflect some of my tastes and what I love. I wanted it to be hippie/bohemian but also modern and current. I didn’t want it to be over the top 70s. I wanted practical. I also wanted it pretty much DIY. I started scheming up ideas in my head and put together an inspiration board, but had no clue who I would get to model for me. I think I was maybe talking about the shoot to a girl I hula hoop with, and wondered if her and her guy would model for me. They seemed like the right fit and after going to her house to talk dresses and clothing, etc., I KNEW it was right when she pulled out this AMAZING vintage dress. I mean, it seriously couldn’t have been more perfect. It wasn’t originally what I had in mind..it was better! And then she pulled out some purple TOMS that matched perfectly. Figuring out Mark’s outfit was a little different and took me awhile. I had some people tell me not to do white tie but I really liked it and went with my gut, and am soo glad I did! My sister helped me with the shirt but it was pretty much what I was envisioning and she helped confirm. She also liked the white tie, too.:)

Most of the vases were ones I already had and Cindy brought along some milk glass and I also got a few items from a past client of mine that graciously offered to let me borrow them. The flowers were all hand-picked by Cindy and I. That took a LOT longer than I expected and so did making the bouquet, boutonniere, and headpiece. I have a whole new respect for florists…on the real.:)Kipp of Kipp’s Cakes did the cake for me and let me just say, her cakes are amazing!! They look fantastic and TASTE GREAT (Cindy, Charity and Mark can all testify!). I first tasted the awesomeness at Austin & Lindsay’s wedding and aw man…telling you! If you are looking for a cake, she is your woman!

I originally had dreams of a VW Bus being in the shoot. After some failed attempts at finding one, I just kinda gave up on the idea and decided to do a backyard theme. But, I didn’t have a backyard for it. I kept thinking of whose backyard I could use but still hadn’t found it. I knew it would all come together just not how. And it totally did. All I will say is that it was total fate. A further reminder to me that everything always works out. You just have to trust in God. Anyway, so that’s the gist of everything. Now for the photos. I hope to inspire brides with this and show how you don’t have to be over the top with everything, nor spend a ton of money to put something really beautiful together.:)

You are so pretty, Charity!

Mark ain’t too bad looking either!

Aren’t they adorable?

Karen + David Visible School Memphis Wedding Sneak!

Karen and David got married this past Saturday!! Karen, her Maid of Honor Gina, and her daughter started at Capelli salon and then headed to Gina’s house to finish preparations. We then headed downtown for a few quick portraits before their evening ceremony started. Karen looked stunning! It was so sweet, after the reception, we walked around downtown for a few and everyone kept yelling “Congratulations”, etc., to them and they were both beaming, but David especially was. I remember he kept pointing at Karen and saying how lucky he was. They are SO sweet together and make a great looking couple, and I wish them nothing but the best. Congratulations again, and thank you SO much for choosing me to document your day. Enjoy your sneak!:)

Austin + Lindsay are Married Part 2!

Lindsay and Austin opted to do a First Look and this made me super excited! I love photographing First Looks! If you aren’t familiar with what First Looks are, they are when the bride and groom choose to see each other before the ceremony. It allows for us to do all photos before the ceremony and the flow of the day to go smoother and for them to have a private, intimate moment with one another while I shoot from afar.

It was still a little damp, but we found a spot in one of the courtyards, and it worked out great especially because there was a fountain and I couldn’t hear a word they were saying to each other.

Below, Lindsay’s Dad sneaks in to say hi and we grabbed a few portraits of them. But first, how cute are these two? Their love for one another is so evident! They make such a good looking couple!

The groomsmen were a lot of fun also! They looked great and hello suspenders.:DAnd also, their jump shot below is SO awesome!

The flower girl was adorable!!

Don’t the girls look amazing? I loved their outfits and flowers and the mix-match yellow shoes along with the pop of turquoise in the jewelry. I think their look complimented Lindsay perfectly! Their jump shot is pretty sweet too!

And now for the Cinnamon Roll! I had no idea what they were talking about, but how freakin’ cute is this?!? See what I mean. FUN!:)
