Hoo-hooooooooooo!! Look what I found hiding in Chester, AR! :: Memphis, TN Photographer

*giggle*

So I came across this little town of Chester by accident. I’m cruising down the highway, jamming to some music, and oh crap, my gas light comes on! I have been in the area before because I used to go to one of the State Parks to hike with an old friend years ago, and I knew there wasn’t a lot around. So the next sign I saw said the words “Gas” and “Chester Mercantile” so I exited! I almost freaked out because it looked like there was NOTHING around. Then I caught a bit of sign that had been almost completely covered by vines that said the store was up ahead. *PHEW!* And then I almost missed it! I had to back up and wait because there were only 2 pumps. 1 Diesel, 1 Regular and there was a guy pumping gas on the regular one. I went inside, got a snack and a drink and then went to pay for my gas. These were old skool gas pumps and I haven’t used one of them in forever. No debit card transactions there. And these pumps were strange…if you pumped $5.00 worth, in reality, you pumped $10.00 worth. I pumped my gas and then pulled over and got out to take some photos. There were 2 other buildings..1 a Post Office that was just too adorable, and this other building which contained an Antique store and a Bed and Breakfast. I couldn’t NOT take some photos. So, here they are. Enjoy!

I LOVE to travel, and I love finding little gems like this by accident.:)

Mid-Century Modern Love :: Memphis, TN Photographer

Just want to share something of a lighter note…

I love. No, LOVE, Mid-Century Modern Design. It makes my heart skip a beat.

And I found this fabulous little piece of heaven at the bookstore today….

It’s called Atomic Ranch – Midcentury Marvels and you can view their website HERE. And yes, this is new to me. I have never seen this magazine anywhere before, though it has been in publication since 1994.

So I get home and am looking through and I come across this GORGEOUS house and I am in love…and then come to find out, it’s a WEEHOUSE! Ha! Surprise surprise!

And of COURSE, I love Dwell Magazine. Another little slice of heaven! *drool*

Food Matters!!! You ARE What You EAT!

I think everyone should watch this.

(and let me just say that I love that they used the John Butler Trio’s song, “Used to Get High” on this..so perfect!

That is just a clip, but you can go to foodmatters.tv to purchase the DVD OR you can buy an online version for about $5 HERE. It is only viewable for 3 days but it’s the route I went. The film is around an hour and 17 minutes, so not very time consuming at all! I encourage you to watch it. I also encourage you to look at your food. Read the labels, read the ingredients. What ARE you really eating?

And if you haven’t seen Food, Inc., you should go rent that too. Here’s the trailer for it.

One of the guys in the film is from Polyface Farms in VA and I love that guy!! And not only what he believes in about food, but what he is standing up for and doing.

I’m still working on doing my smoothies – I did not drink them for several days and yesterday I was hurting really bad. I also had fast food and soda. I’m not sure if there is a correlation, but we’ll see. I drank two 12 oz smoothies and had a spinach salad (ok, that’s not all I ate but healthy wise, it was), and I’m feeling somewhat better today. I am m still having some pain but it’s nowhere near what it was yesterday. Again, is it connected? I think so, but I’m going to continue the process and try to figure it out. I know that if anything, by eating healthier and drinking the smoothies, that I am only contributing to my health and longevity, so I will continue to do it. But I really think that my pain is diet related. We will see in time! Ok, enough rambling, I’m going to go make myself a green smoothie!:)

TUNE IN FOR TUESDAY’S TUNES :: Memphis Photographer

So this time I am going to keep this going. I think Monday’s were just hard to commit to. I think that everyone can agree that Mondays are no one’s favorite, right?

So I’ve decided on renaming the new music blog posts as “Tune in for Tuesday’s Tunes” and I kinda like it. I’m sure someone else has already come up with the same thing and if you have, I’m sorry. I am not trying to copy. Naming stuff is not my strong suit. Well, I just googled it and didn’t see it. Of course there are already Tuesday Tunes but not with TUNE IN! hehe:)

So for the first installment, I’m going to post about Arcade Fire.

You would think I’d be sick of their new album, The Suburbs, I’ve listened to it that much.

Enjoy a few songs off of it…it’s so hard NOT to post the majority…seriously. It’s that good! But I will refrain. If you like what you hear, there are links to the youtube page and you can listen to more songs from their album there.

First off…

Arcade Fire – Ready to Start

The next three don’t have actual video, they are just the songs..

Arcade Fire – \"Modern Man\"

Arcade Fire – \"Suburban Wars\"

This one reminds me of the 80′s and I LOVE IT!

Arcade Fire – \"The Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains\"

ENJOY!
